Herati Rugs

Herati is a very common repeated field design which consists of a flower centered in a diamond with curving leaves located outside the diamond and parallel to each side. The term can be also referred to “Mahi” – a fish design in Farsi. Our Herati collection consists of rugs made in and around the Afghan city of Herat which is a famous center of weaving in Afghanistan. The most distinguishing feature of Herati rugs is their beautiful and eloborate patterns, and their warm and soothing colors.

Bakhtiar Rugs

Bakhtiar rugs are normally associated to the Bakhtiaris – a nomadic group living in the western mountains of Iran. Bakhtiar rugs are one of the most ancient and well-known Persian rugs and are famous for their garden design with flowers and compartment design. Bakhtiar is a design known for its small, intricate compartments, each depicting a design. These carpets are multi-colored, and usually do not have a medallion (all-over designs). Rugs in our Bakhtiar collection include Mughal Bakhtiar rugs woven by Paksitani master-weavers in Lahore, Pakistan.

Kilim Rugs

Kilims at their best are not only extremely decorative; they serve a highly utilitarian purpose. Here are some excellent examples of this twofold function. Inspired by the natural colors of the landscape and rugged terrain, the patterns of these kilims tend to be simple and bold, the fabrics, tough and hard-wearing. Among the best known in our Kilim collection are those of Baluch, Turkoman, Uzbek, Taimani, the Kazak. They are ideal for a medium-size, heavily traficked areas.
